David Livert, Ph.D. joined Easton Hospital in March of 2009 as the research consultant for both the Surgery and Internal Medicine programs. Dr. Livert is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the Lehigh Valley Campus of Penn State University. He earned his doctorate in Social Psychology from the City University of New York, where he was a Lawrence Kogan Fellow in quantitative methods. Dr. Livert has been on the Penn State faculty for six years and has numerous publications in journals including the American Journal of Preventive Health, American Journal of Public Health and Multivariate Behavioral Research.

 

 

 

 

A Guide to the Easton Hospital Research Department

The Department of Research at Easton Hospital supports the scholarly activity of residents in medicine and surgery. In addition to directing research curriculum through the academic year, the research department provides residents and their attending physicians with the following services:

  • Conceptual assistance with study design and selection of variables
  • Instruction in evaluation of the medical literature
  • Assistance in preparing for evidence based journal clubs
  • Preparation of materials for IRB submission
  • Survey design and questionnaire development
  • Design of data coding process and data input using Excel
  • Statistical analysis using SPSS, R, and/or STATA and assistance with interpretation of results
  • Assistance with preparation of graphs and tables
  • Medical editing and preparation of supporting materials for manuscript submission to journals
  • Assistance with dissemination of results (preparation of abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and presentations)
  • Tracking of resident research projects with regular updates to program director
  • Liaison with other key departments (medical library, IRB Coordinator)

All ongoing resident research is tracked and updated monthly. Monthly resident research meetings are held with the program director in surgery, research program coordinator and residency program administrator.
