SUSAN L. AVERETT JOINS EASTON HOSPITAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Easton, PA, February 16, 2009 – Easton Hospital announced today that Susan L. Averett has been named to the hospital’s Board of Trustees.
Ms. Averett is the Charles A. Dana Professor of Economics and Business and Head of the Economics and Business Department at Lafayette College. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Colorado and is the author or coauthor of more than two dozen refereed articles.
“We’re very pleased that Susan will be serving Easton Hospital in this important capacity,” said Angela Marchi, President and Chief Executive Officer, Easton Hospital. “Bearing in mind Susan’s substantial academic credentials, we’re looking forward to enjoying significant contributions from her involvement.”
Ms. Averett’s current research focuses on the economic causes and consequences of obesity, the behavior and academic achievement of multiracial youth and the effect of birth order on adolescent health and risky behavior. She is also the coauthor, with Saul D. Hoffman of the textbook "Women and the Economy: Family Work and Pay." She teaches courses on health economics, women and the economy, and econometrics, and has received numerous awards for her teaching. She also serves as the Faculty Athletics Representative to the NCAA.
Easton Hospital is a 254-bed, acute care teaching hospital serving more than 300,000 residents in Northampton County and the five surrounding counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
