Finestein To Lead Easton Hospital

EASTON, PA. – Easton Hospital today announces the appointment of Orefield’s Brian Finestein as chief executive officer, effective Sept. 13. Finestein succeeds Aaron Hazzard, who has been serving as interim CEO since May 2010.

"Easton Hospital has a rich tradition of community service and a well-documented reputation for quality, as evidenced by HealthGrades’ naming it as one of America's Fifty Best Hospitals,” Finestein says. “I look forward to working with the hospital's strong medical staff and dedicated employees to continue moving ahead."

With more than 30 years of experience as a health care leader, Finestein comes to Easton after serving as CEO at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pa., since 2007. Before that, he served in top leadership roles at Graduate Hospital, Hahnemann University Hospital and Albert Einstein Medical Center, all teaching hospitals in Philadelphia. His experience also includes executive positions at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown as well as facilities in New York and New Jersey.

“Brian brings a depth of experience that we are excited to have found,” says Tom Muller, chairman of Easton Hospital’s board of trustees. “We believe he will be a good fit with our board, as well as with the medical staff and employees. And, as a resident of the Lehigh Valley, he is already familiar with the area’s health care needs and market dynamics.”

Finestein has enjoyed many successes related to service line development and improvement as well as patient and physician satisfaction, noted by Chief of Staff Stanley Walker, M.D. “Brian’s background shows an ability to manage health care with a focus on quality and satisfaction while also maintaining the necessary development and financial strategies required in today’s health care environment,” Walker says. “That combination is what you hope to find in a CEO.”

Easton Hospital is a full-service, 254-bed acute care hospital serving the Lehigh Valley and neighboring New Jersey. The hospital offers an Emergency Department with a certified chest pain center and an active cardiac surgery program. Easton Regional Cancer Center is a partner of the nationally-renowned Fox Chase Cancer Center. Easton Hospital is active in medical education, and supports fully-accredited residency training programs in surgery and internal medicine.
