The birth of a baby is a very special occasion. When you deliver your baby at Easton Hospital, you truly become part of our family. Delivering babies since 1909 when the hospital opened its first maternity ward, Easton Hospital is a place where the technology is advanced, yet the setting is warm and inviting. We get to know you by name, and we listen to your requests. Laboring mothers and their family members enjoy the comfortable surroundings of our unit. Unlike traditional delivery rooms, our cozy, private labor and delivery suites allow you to experience labor, delivery and recovery in one familiar location with the support and experience of a dedicated and devoted staff.
For a tour of our unit and the opportunity to meet our staff, please call us at 610-250-4332.
Labor and Delivery Suites
Each of our labor and delivery suites is warmly decorated and designed to maximize your comfort and privacy. All suites include an adjustable birthing bed, bathroom, shower, rocking chair, color TV and a comfortable recliner for dad or a family member to stay overnight. A jacuzzi whirlpool tub may be requested based on availability.
Within seconds, the cozy bedroom transforms into a high tech delivery suite. When you are ready to deliver, you won’t be moved from your room or taken away from those you want near.
The physicians and obstetrical nurses at Easton Hospital are highly trained health experts who love what they do, and it shows. All of our nurses are trained in neonatal resuscitation, and many hold other certifications as well, including advanced fetal monitoring, inpatient obstetrics and lactation.
For women who require a Caesarean delivery, our fully-equipped surgical suite contains everything needed for a “C-section,” whether planned or unplanned. You will not have to leave the unit. After delivery and recovery, new mothers are transferred to private rooms for their postpartum stays.
After delivery, you and your baby will be moved to a private room on the unit where you can relax and enjoy your time together. You’ll be surrounded by highly skilled staff in a warm and comfortable environment.
Our liberal visiting hours allow you and your baby to spend the important time following delivery in a family-like atmosphere. The hours are:
- Fathers: 24 hours a day
- Grandparents and siblings: 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
- Family and friends: 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Our center is a secured unit and access is granted only through the main doors entering the unit. All unit staff wear distinct photo identification badges and follow specific guidelines to assure the security of your newborn.
Level IIIA Newborn Intensive Care Unit
Most babies are born healthy and admitted to our newborn nursery, but unfortunately, some babies are born prematurely or with a condition that requires special medical attention. Our Level IIIA Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) can accommodate these babies in a specially designed protective environment equipped with monitors, ventilators and isolettes.
In our Level IIIA NICU, newborns receive round-the-clock care from specially trained neonatologists (physicians who specialize in the care of newborns) and nurses. Here, modern technology is combined with human touch to give “at risk” babies the best start in life.
Help for New Parents
Before you go home, our nursing staff will be glad to show you ways to feed, dress, bathe and care for your new baby. Feel free to ask any of our nurses anything about infant care. We also encourage you to take advantage of our closed circuit educational television programming—the Newborn Channel. Program topics include infant care and breast-feeding and serve to reinforce the teaching available from our nursing staff.
